Today (also my birthday) Ragamuffin Soul, the much anticipated full-length album by Carlos Whitaker hits the streets.

I was privileged to get my hands on an early release copy and have been listening to it non-stop.

Including songs from the previously released EP, Ragamuffin Soul is a story. A story of a journey told in songs that meet us where we are.

God of Second Chances, Jesus Saves, We Will Dance, No Words,and We Will Worship You stand out for me personally. Great music.

Every song is arranged well and as a worship leader I definitely would use just about every song on this album in a corporate worship gathering. Make sure you pick up your copy today!

Had a great day yesterday!

Got to visit with our old church family at House of Joy in Valdosta. Well, technically they’re still part of the broader Church family that we’re all connected to!

Anyways, we attended 2 services at the same time. HOJ meets in a movie theater and has both an adult service AND a youth service that run simultaneously. We popped into the youth service first.

They were rocking: All Because of Jesus, Revelation Song, and How He Loves.

Then I popped into the adult service and they were rocking: With Long Life, How Great is Our God, and One Way.

Great stuff!

I was able to talk to the “new guy” at HOJ, Jonathan, for a few minutes as well. I like him. He’s a great guy. I would have liked to have worshiped with him back in the day! Anyways, he said that he felt like the foundation was really solid when he took over, so that made me a little happy knowing that I left the HOJ worship ministry in a good spot to keep growing and going as we left back in August of 2009.

All in all, it was great to see old friends, and to step back in to what was such a big part of our lives for over 3 years.

Ever have one of those nights where you can’t go to sleep because your mind is just teeming with thoughts?

Last night, it seems, was one of those for me. Typically, I’m not a “head hit the pillow start snoring” kind of a guy, so I’m used to my thoughts tucking me in at night, but every now and then I’ll have one of those nights where I wish I could just turn off my brain…solely for the purpose of sleep.

So I was thinking about a lot of things. Mainly, playing out certain events that will never happen in a million years. A fruitless pursuit, but I couldn’t get away from it. So, I got more and more frustrated, and more and more tired in the process.
