Blog Friends [Fred McKinnon]

Today I’ve reserved my blog space to wish a Happy Birthday to a good friend of mine, Fred McKinnon. He’s been a great blog friend over the years and this past summer I got to spend a little time with him and his family (great bunch)!

Fred is a Worship Artist and Worship Leader at St. Simons Community Church on beautiful St. Simons Island, Georgia. If you’re ever looking for a great place to vacation, St. Simons is wonderful!

Fred is a talented writer/composer/performer and you can connect to his music through his blog.

He is also the founder of The Worship Community (theworshipcommunity.com) – a wonderful resources for worship leaders, pastors, tech directors, sound guys, worshipers, musicians, carpenters, bus drivers, clowns, CEOs, janitors, and generally everyone. It’s jam packed with helpful and informative articles and a forum section that is very active.

Fred’s a great guy! Go wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY if you haven’t already!!

An Historic Happening

A lone man stood before the throngs of dazzled spectators and followers. His words captured the hearts and minds of those who heard him speak. Those closest to him knew him as an agent of change, a revolutionary figure who spoke of the future and a new hope.

He turned the establishment on its ear. Promising a new way, a new path, he amazed the multitudes with his poignant phrases and stories. Never before in the history of the nation has such a man from humble beginnings risen to such influence. Not much was known about the man, but his followers will follow him to the ends of the earth.

He challenged the status quo. People believed. People were changed. He is probably the most influential man ever to walk the face of the earth.

My allegiance is to this man. A man from a small town. A working man.

He stood on the hillside and delivered what I believe is history’s most revolutionary speech, the beatitudes and the sermon on the mount.

I pledge my allegiance and loyalty to his platforms, to his constitution. To his kingdom.

Jesus, the son of man, the Son of God. Elected not by popular vote or the whims of man, but chosen by God to bridge the gap between man and God.

My hope is in You. Because You said all authority comes from God, I will pray for and support the leaders of my temporal country, but know that my eternal home and country is in the Kingdom of Heaven.

No Shave November 08

Alright many of you have rocked the vote.

Who is rocking the beard? There’s a bunch of us guys around here who are growing facial hair because we can. Sorry, Lyd (wife).

This month is unofficially No Shave November.

I’m in.

Now most people just go grizzly during No Shave November, but if you’d like to join me and are a little leary about going full caveman, than just pick a facial hair “area” and go for it. Some of the guys are “No Shaving” their goatees, or mustaches, etc.

Post a starting pic and we’ll continue to update our progress for the entire month. Who’s in?

Jon is, are you?

Jon Morris is, are you?

Joel Klampert is, are you?

UPDATE: Add a comment to this post with a link back to your no shave november post and I’ll post your pic here.

Help! My Office Is Orange!

So after a long weekend with a sick puppy and moving offices I’m back here setting up my office. It’s great to be in a new space.

One problem though, I’m not thrilled with the color. Someone else picked it and painted it without any input, so basically I’ve got an office space where I’m supposed to be creative painted in a color that I find a little too dark and pumpkin for me.

The pic above shows the color. The flamey thing is something we used to have in our youth space, but it’s mine now (I created it). So it will probably stay hanging, but the orange…what should I do about the orange?

I have permission to redo it. I want to ASAP. I just thought it would be fun to get everyone’s input.

Keep in mind I run the media and music department from this office. I’m not the administrative type. I do ALL of the web/graphic design out of this office, so I’m definitely looking for a creative space. Something other than a solid color.

Okay, let the torrential downpour of creative ideas begin. Suggestions?
