Why My Whiteboard To Do List is Better Than A PDA

Yep. I said it. My old school whiteboard to do list is better than your electronic pda/mobile phone to do list.

For me that is.

There’s a lot of ways that I, as  Media/Music Coordinator for a growing church, try to keep my days productive. To Do Lists are but one. Here’s why I think my whiteboard is better than anything else:

1) I have it hanging right next to my desk. It’s accessible. In the photos I’m sitting at my desk.
2) I can see that bad boy ALL DAY. It stares at me. Those words searing into the side of my face until I am compelled to take action.
3) I don’t set it and forget it. When I used to put reminders on my phone, I’d get them and then turn them off…lost forever. But with this method, I see it all day and don’t cross an item off until it’s finished. I also use this in conjunction with ical/google cal so I have a multi-layered approach.
4) It’s a pretty big board…which is way better than 72 post-it notes all over my desk. I mean, really, who can operate that way?
5) People who visit me in my office can see that I actually work on several items per day and that I don’t sit around drawing cartoons and thinking up creative ways to blog about whiteboards.

What OLD SCHOOL tools do you employ to make your days more productive?

Pure Praise: Personal God

Friendship:

The fact that we are friends amazes me.
We’re not friends because of my merit or my ability to be friendly.
We are friends because of You.

You initiate. I respond.
You called me friend long before I even knew about You.

Wrapped yourself in a robe of humanity and stepped into a dying world.
Extended the hand of rescue and friendship when I was drowning in myself.
Who am I, that you would even cast a thought in my direction?
What have I done to deserve such a friendship?

The fact that we are friends amazes me.
I can’t say I’m surprised, though.
Every new detail I learn about You leads me to this conclusion:
You are a friend to the friendless, a lover to the loveless.
You are home to the homeless.

The fact that we are friends amazes me.

Pure Praise: Relational God

Faithful:

How is that when so many times I have turned my heart away from You, when I have all but spit in Your face, You are still here?

Here.

Not far. Not there. But near.

Here.

Merciful:

How is it that when so many times I have chosen the wide road, the sinful path that leads away from You, the road of transgressions traveled by so many, You are still here?

Not just casually sitting on the porch.

But running to meet me. Every time.

No stones cast. Forgiveness bestowed.

Here.

Holy:

How is it that a raging fire that consumes everything in its path, a wild tempest of righteous love, a beautiful fury of passion and justice, can be here? Here with me, an imperfect breathing lump of dirt and clay.

Here.

You are here.

When I was there, You were here.
When I was far, You were near.

You were here.
You are here.
You will be here.

Pure Praise: Vocal Praise wk2/day4

Join me and many others in this 6 week study online hosted by The Worship Community.

Praise can be vocal.

Shouting, Singing, Sharing.

Shouting: JESUS IS SO GOOD!
Singing: lalalalalala…
Sharing: To me this is so much more than sharing a testimony at church, though that is a part of it. I think bringing God honor and glory with your life includes being vocal (sharing) about it when your NOT at church. I don’t mean standing on the street corner and preaching to the traffic lights. I don’t mean getting up in the breakroom and telling everyone about your faith.

I simply mean just being genuine and authentic about your journey.
