Ragamuffin Soul by Carlos Whitaker

Today (also my birthday) Ragamuffin Soul, the much anticipated full-length album by Carlos Whitaker hits the streets.

I was privileged to get my hands on an early release copy and have been listening to it non-stop.

Including songs from the previously released EP, Ragamuffin Soul is a story. A story of a journey told in songs that meet us where we are.

God of Second Chances, Jesus Saves, We Will Dance, No Words, and We Will Worship You stand out for me personally. Great music.

Every song is arranged well and as a worship leader I definitely would use just about every song on this album in a corporate worship gathering. Make sure you pick up your copy today!

[Review] Relentless: A Worship Project

Relentless: A Worship Project

I love this project. From the get go the heart and purpose of this album is to serve others. Six young college songwriters got together and decided to record an album with the proceeds going to raise funds for the Wesley Foundation at Valdosta State University. I love that the aim of this recording is to promote a vibrant ministry and not the individuals who wrote and recorded the songs.

From their Facebook Fan Page: Their journey began with six very different musicians discussing what it would be like to collaborate with each other’s ideas, talents, and personalities to produce a CD. Nearly a year later, after a lot of time and hard work, their efforts have come to fruition in what they have titled “Relentless: A Worship Project.” With varying sounds and subject matter, the CD promises to be relevant to just about any music lover who has a passion for the Lord and for his people.

Hallelujah! I Am Free [Great new song for worship]

Hallelujah! I Am Free

Please prayerfully consider using this song in your worship repertoire this year! It’d be a great song to end the Lent season with! Trent shares with us how to use it in more of an acoustic (maybe during communion) set up and how it can be medleyed into How He Loves (John Mark McMillan ©2005 Integrity’s Hosanna! Music)

Gungor: Beautiful Things

Beautiful-Things-LOW-RES

This cd released today, February 16, 2010. I was able to get my hands on a copy this past week and to also have my mind blown in the live performance of this cd. A rare experience, I’m told, to actually get to hear this entire musical “journey” live, the attendees of Recreate were mesmerized by a special performance by Gungor.

I can only call the live performance an experience. I can’t even find words to describe the feelings that swirled through my heart and soul as Michael and Lisa Gungor and band led us on a journey that was both musical and visual art. It was both the best performance AND the both worship experience I’ve ever been a part of. Literally.
