100 Pic Friday Challenge: 60ish Ain’t So BAd

So Joshua White (@joshuawhite) put out a challenge in our little circle of the twitterverse to take 100 mobile pictures on Friday and share them with the world. I took the challenge. Made it to 60. (Though some of the photos strangely disappeared). Pretty good if you ask me. It was a tough challenge, being that the pics needed to be “different” in that they couldn’t just be 100 of the same pics of your foot, or wall, or self in a mirror.

I had planned on filling up a large majority of my 100 with pics from the Cirque Du Soleil show in Tallahassee that we went to, but I guess like most sows like that, photography was banned during the performance, so instead of about 25-ish that I had estimated. I ended up with only 2. 1 right before the show, and 1 during intermission.

One thing that was tough about the challenge (for me on iPhone) was the hash tag (#100picfriday). It’s not crazy or anything, but having to type it in to each photo post was a little time consuming and tough when I was in the car.

I did use PixelPipe to manage my photos and where the got posted to: facebook, twitpic (which uploads and shares pics twitter), and flickr, so that was pretty awesome.

Well, I didn’t make 100 (Terrace, you knew it!!).

But at least I tried and it was a blast!

Chocolate Covered….Spam?

I’ve tried to make it a point not to post silly random stuff here at RussHutto.com. Well, other than the silly random music related teaching videos I post.

But I just couldn’t not respond to Mandy Thompson’s ChocoBacon video.

Oh, no I didn’t.

Would You Prayerfully Consider Supporting?

HONDURAS 09

My wife and I, Lydia, and Jonathan and Carrie Chick are representing our church, House of Joy, and joining the team from The Sanctuary Church, in Jefferson, GA on a mission/ministry trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras this July. The four of us are raising funds together (independently from the Sanctuary team).

We have been yardsale-ing, cookie baking, jewelery making, original photo print taking, and music making for a few months now in an attempt to raise funds without just asking people in a simple letter. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But we wanted to raise funds with our skill sets. And ALL proceeds are going directly to the trip.

ONLINE FAMILY?

I wanted to call on you, my online friends and family, and ask if you would prayerfully consider donating to our trip. I have seen the power of online connection and how we band together in times of need and lift one another up in prayer and encouragement and celebrate life victories, so I thought it would only be reasonable to give you the opportunity to “go” with me and the team to Honduras and make an impact with your prayers and donations.

Donate & Get 10 Original Russ Hutto Songs!

Personally, I’m making available a downloadable digital album* with some of my newer tunes from my 50 Songs challenge and some older originals (10 songs total) with my desktop wallpapers included to those who donate $15 or more. I’m not just begging for money here. I do want you to prayerfully consider, and above all, I’d love to know that you are praying with and for us in July as we travel and minister.

If you’d like more details, I’ve set up a donation page (paypal) and have ALL the necessary information about the trip.

* I’ll shoot you the link to the downloadable album goodness after donations are confirmed.

Some of My Favorite Worship Leader/Songwriter/Photographer Blogs

I have a massive list of blogs that I follow in my RSS feedreader. I follow a ton of blogs through Our Creative Community (a creative blogging community). Most all of the blogs I follow are somehow related to worship, church leadership, or creative arts. Here are some of the creme de la creme. If I follow you and comment regularly on your blog, you’re already worthy of being called a favorite.

But here are my TOP picks (in no order):

MandyThompson.com:
Mandy brings a very transparent and real approach to blogging about her experiences in songwriting, worship leading, and being married. She is an inspiring young woman and I enjoy listening to her music and reading about her journey to be a better songwriter.

mandythompson.com

FredMcKinnon.com:
Fred hosts Sunday Setlists each Sunday where worship leaders from all over the world share their Sunday experiences each week. It’s an amazing resource in itself, but Fred also offers great worship leadership insight and runs TheWorshipCommunity.com and HighestPraise.com both of which are excellent resources for worship leaders and worshipers alike. I enjoy watching Fred’s video worship confessionals from time to time and it’s neat to read about his great family (which I met last summer).

fredmckinnon.com

InProgress (Tammy Hodge):
Tam runs a great blog complete with a carefree writing approach and a real, authentic desire to express encouragement and ministry to her readers. I’m encouraged daily by the questions she asks her readers and I participate in conversation there regularly.

kassota.wordpress.com

Indian Lake Papa:
Papa isn’t a worship leader/songwriter/or photographer but he always makes my top list! Papa is amazing. I got to meet him in person in December of 08. I wish he were a member of our church family here in Valdosta, but I know that he IS a member of THE church which we’re all a part of through JESUS! Papa writes with authority. Each story he shares is encouraging and thought provoking and when he says he’s praying for his readers I know that he is. His blog is a ministry in itself and you’ll be encouraged just by reading it.

choicesrmine.blogspot.com

Clarus Photography:
Jon and Carrie are some of our best friends here in Valdosta. They have such a gift in capturing life moments in photography. If you’re in the Southeast and are looking for a non-traditional, but amazing photographer please look them up!
