500th post + Goals for the New Year

This post marks 500! yay! Happy 500 post day!

I haven’t been blogging here regularly as I keep a consistent writing schedule going on The Worship Community and over on my health and fitness blogs. RH.com has kind of taken a back seat. But I try to share about the times I lead worship or when I participate in some musical event and such.

I am excited about a great new opportunity that will unveil itself in the very near future! Keep your eyes and ears open for some neat musical things coming from this part of the world!

In 2011, I’d like to write 50 songs. I attempted that feat back in 09 and made it to about 30. Great accomplishment back then, but I’m going to knock it out of the park this time. That’s 2 songs a week. Who’s with me?

Top 8 Posts At RussHutto.com

1) Top 10 Songs for Praise & Worship: About a year ago I listed the top song choices for House of Joy in Valdosta, GA.

2) How To Play The Drums On Your Lap: In this post (with video) I discuss how you can actually learn to play the drums without sticks, without a drum set, and ultimately without expensive lessons (though none of those things could hurt).

3) 50 Songs [Crunk Edition]: Drowning (New Rap Version): Back in March 09, I shared this little rap diddy. It’s probably one of my favorite re-writes.

4) 50 Songs: Nothing But The Blood (Remix): In June 09, I reworked the old public domain hymn, Nothing But The Blood and came up with this odd, but catchy, tune.

5) What The American Church Needs: After some engaging discussion with my brother, this post was born. Bottom line? Do we need technology, facility or money to be successful? No. We NEED to represent Jesus collectively. Period. Everything else is good, but not necessary.

6) 3 Ways To Add Worship Team Members: A quick post about recruiting by relationship.

7) Present Tense by Jason Lehman: One of my favorite poems.

8) Sex, Lies & Religion by Randy Elrod: Book review. Great book that will definitely provoke thought and start discussion.

I Admit: I’m Not a World Rocker

Last month I had a chance to go to Re:Create. It’s an amazing “unconference” designed to be a refreshing and challenging time of retreat, learning, early adopting, creative display, etc. And from the moment I got there I realized I don’t EVER want to miss it.

Those of you who have complained about the cost and how the registration fees could be used elsewhere just don’t understand. It was worth every penny I paid out of my own pocket to meet some of the most amazing brothers and sisters in Christ that I’ll ever meet. The networking opportunities are phenomenal. The challenges brought by the speakers/artists and fellow attendees will remain with me for life. I am a better follower of Christ because of that week and I’ll defend it boldy and confidently.
