I’ll Be Working Out For A Good Cause!
That’s right, come September 25, 2010 I’ll be joining with thousands of individuals and CrossFit affiliates from all over the world to raise money for Livestrong, The Wounded Warrior Project and The CrossFit Foundation. We’ll be holding our event at CrossFit Brunswick – the affiliate where I work out daily.
Here’s how it works:
For every rep that I do during this workout called FIGHT GONE BAD, I’ll be raising money for these charities.
In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. The event is in the 3 round format and takes 17 minutes to complete (including the rests after the first and second rounds). The stations are:
- Wall-ball: 20 pound ball, 10 ft target. (Reps)
- Sumo deadlift high-pull: 75 pounds (Reps)
- Box Jump: 20″ box (Reps)
- Push-press: 75 pounds (Reps)
- Row: calories (Calories)
The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of “rotate,” the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.
The last time I did this workout I got 154 reps. I plan on bettering that next month.
If you’d like to donate you can give a one time amount or you can pledge a small amount per rep. A dime per rep would be about $15. A quarter would be about $37 dollars. And a dollar would be about $150. That is, of course, unless I get superhuman powers and do 400 reps.
Realistically I’m shooting for about 165-175 reps.
Each contestant will have a personal “rep” counter and judge to make sure that all reps are performed correctly and counted accurately.
