Sunday Setlist: VHS Baccalaureate Service [05.09.10]

Today I had the opportunity (for the second year in a row) to play at the Valdosta High School Baccalaureate service. It was indeed an honor to participate in this inspiration service for the Class of 2010.

I was doubly honored and privileged to have some good friends (from all over South Georgia) join me to form a great team. Big thanks to Jason Crowe (on drums – Jesup), Jimmy Linville (on bass – Valdosta), Hamp Rogers (on guitar – Valdosta), Cortni Joseph (on vocals – Valdosta), Rosalind Moore (on vocals – Valdosta) and Danita Campbell (on vocals – Valdosta). I played keys and acoustic guitar (I’m from Brunswick!).

We had planned to do 5 songs, but added a new one in and cut 2 out due to lack of time, so our end set looked like this:

1) Shackles (Mary Mary): Key Em. This one is always a fun song to rock out. Our tried and true Maroon 5 meets Kirk Franklin version never lets us down! The girls rocked it.

2) Revelation Song (Riddle): Key C. Definitely not your worship leader’s version. This one rocks pretty hard. I actually led out vocally on this one, and it would have been nice to take it up a step or two…but the girls came in on the chorus and pretty much carried from then til the end while I took everything up an octave and had fun “soaring” on this one.

3) Blessed Be Your Name (Redman): Key G. Another steadfast tune that works really well for us.

4) One Way (Crazy Train Remix): Key F#m. This one is always fun. Wish we’d had one more electric guitar but I tried to fill in the blanks a little with my acoustic. Not quite the same but still a rockin’ tune.

We cut: With Long Life (Houghton – Cm) and Your Love is Beautiful (Hillsong – Cm) both great tunes that I wish we could have done.
