Show Love: The Pre-Rehearsal Pizza
One of my favorite ways that SSCC shows love to the band/singers each week is providing a quick and easy meal right before rehearsal.
If you can figure a way to budget it in, or get a volunteer “sponsor” from your church to cover the cost, this is a GREAT team builder that only takes 30 minutes and really no work at all.
Just order a few pizzas, have some drinks on hand, and hang out with your team before rehearsal.
This is not the time to be running around making setlist copies, picking out songs, or plunking out parts. This is time for YOU as the Worship Leader/Ministry Leader to connect with your team members each week.
A few Benefits:
- Food. Yes. Food. People love food. Give them some.
- Connection. In just a few brief moments people connect with each other (and reonnect as well).
- Relationships. You show your team that you value them. Sure, it’s a small thing, but it means a lot.
- Buffer: Sometimes we have THOSE DAYS at work or at home and we need a little buffer time between then and grabbing a microphone or guitar and getting to work rehearsing. those 30 minutes can be just what the doctor ordered!
How about you? Where you’re at do you (or does your team leader) provide an opportunity for you to just hang out for a few minutes over a bite to eat before rehearsal?

Ha ha ha, my drummer works at pizza hut. However we can only practice on Wednesdays and he works from 8 to 8. By the time he gets to church we have to to jump straight into it. But after were done we usually hangout for a moment and chill before going home.
Definitely understandable. It’s the “hangout for a moment” that counts whether before, during, or after rehearsal!
