Sunday Setlist [Morning Gatherings 01.31.10]

Today IS a great day! We’re through our first service here at SSCC. Looking forward to our second gathering and our night of worship tonight!

I had the great privilege of leading a song I wrote this morning. Psalm 63. I think it’s going over well. I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback on this one from other avenues and I think it’s going to be a good one for congregational worship! Love when that happens.

Setlist:

1) Get Ready For Revival (Jonathan Stockstill): Key Bb. Kind of a bluesy, gospel feel. Definitely choir friendly.

2) For All You’ve Done (Reuben Morgan): Key E. This one was new to me but I realy like it. I think if you’ve not done his one at your place I’d check into it. Good uptempo song with a great hook makes this one very congregational.

Baby Dedication.

3) Psalm 63 (Follow After You) (Russ Hutto): Key G. Original. One of the tunes I wrote near the end of last year (09). Really wanted to write a singable, catchy hook for a chorus that would stick with you. I think God dropped a good one in me with this one! Been great so far.

4) Step by Step Chorus (Rich Mullins): Key G. We medleyed right into his one from Psalm 63 and it was tasty. these two songs work well together. Can’t go wrong with classic ragamuffin worship!

Sermon about fighting for families including powerful testimony from a couple in church who have a restored, redeemed, and reconciled relationship and marriage!

5) With All I Am (Reuben Morgan): Key D. Closed the service with this one. Nice, sweet, worshipful tune that was also new to me. A lovely tune. Reuben writes some good ones!

I’d love to hear how you went from your song into step by step. I’ve listened to your song a time or two, and would like to hear how you did that.

On another note, would you be interested in coming on my podcast to talk about songwriting?

Sure, David. We might even snag a decent recording of the whole deal tonight that I’ll be able to share.

    Podcast? Sure! That’d be great!

Have heard Stockstill’s “Get Ready For Revival”, but never played it. I may have to check that out along with your song. Thanks for posting Russ.

No problem, Daniel. Get Ready For Revival isn’t my cup of tea. BUT it’s a great song and we had fun doing it!

Russ, I have to admit “For All You’ve Done” is one of those songs I love so much that I probably overuse it. I think I remember hearing a simple recording of your Psalm 63 shortly after you wrote it. The “I will follow after you” part really does stick – good song, and thanks for sharing!

For All You’ve Done is a great tune! This is the first time I’ve ever played it! (I’m kind of a noob to SSCC)! Thanks for the kind words about my song. Feel free to use it any time!
