50 Songs: The Speed of Life [Collaboration with Mandy Thompson]

Finally finished!

Mandy Wrote the lyrics for this and provided the chorus and some great accent parts during the song!

Long story short, I had the bulk of the music finished for this song, and I totally had no lyrics (not even an idea yet) and Mandy asked over on her blog if anyone would “hire” her to write lyrics. So, I virtual hired her to pen the lyrics for this. She killed it! Homerun!

We sent the files back and forth for 2 weeks and here is the final version:

About Russ Hutto: I live and work in the beautiful Golden Isles region of Southeast Georgia along with my beautiful wife Lydia. You can find me designing in print for WYIM Publications during the week. I'm the Editor of The Worship Community. On the weekends, I'm usually volunteering in the Worship Ministry at St. Simons Community Church or traveling to help smaller churches with Worship Ministry Development. I also help mentor and coach student musicians and singers for our middle and high school ministries. Lastly, I'm an avid CrossFitter (CrossFit Brunswick) and love all things fitness and nutrition.

i love it! as i said over on mandys blog…theres nothing like it out there now. very fun. love your trumpet work!!

and your rap name shall be…

wait. i was trying to combine your name and trumpet, but could only come up with…

“russet”

but thats a potato. that aint right.

then youd become…”hutto the potato”

not right again.

Not sure what I’m amazed by more…..The finished product or how it all came together.
Awesome job!
Also diggin the trumpet….inspired me to pick mine up. Haven’t played regularly in years….might have to start again!

Sounds good! I like the way it turned out. Has kind of a Shaded Red (this is a revolution) feel to it.

However, I was hoping it would start out with a bass intro that goes
“DO-DOOM-DO-DI” !!!!!!!!!!!!

My three-year-old daughter came in the room, and said, “It sounds like basketball music.” I asked her to dance and she did a robot-kind-of-a dance. We liked it.
