50 Songs: Your Love Never Fails [2-13-09]

This is a song based on 1 Chronicles 16:34 and Psalm 57 (which I’ve also designed free wallpapers for).

PDF CHART

Just a scratch recording…my “drums” metronome kind of bled over a little, sorry about that. Not using the right headphones this morning.

It’s kind of an acoustic guitar driven song, that can either be done as an uptempo song or a worshipful song. That ll depends on what groove your rhythm section lays down for it. It’s a very flexible song (at the same tempo).

Let me know if you like it and if you’d like to use it at your place!

When I see that title, it immediately reminds me of Jesus Culture…and then the chorus actually reminded me of their song too…even though when I sit back and analyze it, I don't think it should. The power of words is amazing.

On 2nd listen, I'm really appreciating how easily congregation-friendly worship flows from you Russ (that's how it appears anyway :)

I actually went AFTER I recorded this earlier today and checked CCLI for other songs of this same title. Thankfully, there were only a handful, it's a good thing I didn't write a song called I Know That My Redeemer Lives…there's about 40 of them there.

Anyways, in searching, I came across the Jesus Culture song. I'll have to admit I'm not familiar with any of there stuff.

What I have to remind myself though, as I continue to write and if write with increased frequency there's gonna be some “Oh, that sounds like so and so song…”

I might be the one who notices it, more times than not, I'll be the one scratching my head going…”Wow, that does kind of sound like that.”

I think for fun I'll just write a song called How Fantastic Is Our God.

P.S. Thanks so much for listening to it MORE THAN ONCE!

Looking fwd to How Fantastic Is Our God :)

And I can definitely identify with being the first person who picks what your own song sounds like, and if that's good, bad or indifferent.

Think I'll be hummimg this one all day now Russ. And what great words to have stuck in your head “Your Love never fails.”

    Thanks

Appreciate it Cee. It's always great to hear that a tune is catchy. Sometimes I think stuff I write is garbage and then I find myself (and if I'm fortunate) others humming the tune. Yes!!

    Thank you!

This is not about any recent music you posted – it is about the fire to get off of my song-writing butt you lit – I have checked out your site a fair amount since reading some of your posts on the Pure Praise Study site – and when I came here, I saw your self-challenge to write a song a week – well, I have recently stumbled onto a large block of time (the lack of which was always my 'reason' for not writing more). I took up that challenge for myself and while I am quite aware of the amount of sad and silly stuff I am churning out, I am also aware of how the ACT of writing, of looking for the deeper meaning in Scripture I am working with, has been working in me – and there ARE a few little musical nuggets that I will save for future use. thanks for sharing your journey with us!
