Saturday Songwriting [Friday Edition]

Well, I’m playing a show tonight. It’s an open mic night. The rules are 30 minutes, and one of our set has to be an original. I’ve got a few that I’ll be doing. But I wanted to introduce a BRAND SPANKING new original. I wrote it this morning. It’s a simple pop-ish kind of love song. Yeah, I know. What happened to rockstar, Russ? Well, he’s getting older and wanted to write a song that didn’t melt your face off with distortion, but still had a fun enthusiasm.

It’s called “Crazy for You” and it’s for my wife. Since it’s for her, it’s from my heart and not necessarily manufactured, like sometimes my songs are when I TRY to write for a specific concept or something. This is pure love from me to her. She hasn’t heard it yet, so it’ll be a surprise tonight. (She’s not a blogger at all so I’m not worried about her reading this post)

Edit: I kind of flub the lyrics towards the end, because I was getting into it and I forgot the words.

Anyways, what do you think?

Suggestions?

I might play it on keys, instead of guitar depending on what my entire 30 minutes set list ends up containing, but I just wanted to kind of get a little feedback before I unveiled it tonight.

On the weekends, I'm usually volunteering in the Worship Ministry at St. Simons Community Church or traveling to help smaller churches with Worship Ministry Development. Sounds great Russ! I am sure she will melt. You will definately get some extra kisses after that! You know listening to it kinda reminded me of when Adam Sandler sang “Forgetfull Lucy” on “50 First Dates” ! That’s just me! Great stuff brother.

Haha, Adam Sandler, I’ve watched many of his movies and listened to many of his cds, so it’s possible there’s a subconcious connection!

Sweet!. So I got crunk on this one last night. My wife was totally surprised and she cried. It was a crowd favorite, even though I didn’t win the shoot out, it was worth it just to see her smile!

This is just the best, Russ! I write sappy love songs for Pam(my lovely wife), too. Keep it up. This is good stuff. I mean it.
