When Do You…
Inspired by Mandy’s Whatever Wednesday, and a single question that stuck out in the multitude of them over on her blog yesterday, I wanted to start a series of “When Do You…” posts. Posts that are basically single questions (and my answer) and an opportunity for me to get to know you better.
So today’s “When Do You” is…
When Do You Start Celebrating Christmas?
That’s right, when do you break out the decorations, christmas tree, and start rocking to the all-christmas-every-hour holiday music marathon that many radio stations pump out?
Growing up we would break out the tree the day after Thanksgiving. Nowadays, seems like you can’t make it to Halloween barely without beginning to see Christmas decorations pop-up at the local Target or Walmart. Granted, I know its one of the largest seasonal retail holidays, but geez, seems like poor old Thanksgiving gets lost in the mix.
When I moved out of the house (about 12 years ago). I turned into scrooge, quite inadvertently, though. As a single dude, I just couldn’t get into the whole season and all the activities and decorations associated with “Western Christmas” – I think I was too lazy to put up the tree too. So, it wasn’t really until this past year, my first MARRIED Christmas that I actually participated in shopping for and decorating the tree. Yay…
It was fun, and I can’t wait to have a few more little “russ-kins” running around excited about Jesus’ birthday celebration and all that goes along with it. But that will probably be in many, many years.
Anyways, When Do You start celebrating Christmas?

well, my roommate has all ready put up the tree.
but normally not until december 25th. ;0)
We start day after Thanksgiving.
If I can escape without having to home decorate I am IN. I hate dragging all that stuff from the attic. I like how it looks, just hate doing it. Now if only I could get those Home Owners Association Guys to come inside and just keep doing what they are doing on stinking Nov 7; hanging wreaths on the entrances.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is the least commercial, I like the traditions and thanking God, AND Romo is gonna sweetly rock the cowboys to another win.
@lynse,
thanks for the comment!
@jordan,
I’m with you there. My wife LOVES all things Christmas, so she’s already itching to decorate…
Romo is one of my starting QBs in one of the leagues I’m in (Fantasy football) so I’m hoping he does well!
